Hello, and Questions about a Contest 31
« on: 14 June, 2012, 19:18:30 »
I am new to this Forum.  Hello to everyone.

I have a couple questions as I am soon to be an Contest 31 owner, Hull 134:

Would it be possible for someone to let me know what the hatch cover for the battery compartment looks like and its design?  Please see the first photo showing what is there now, it does not appear to be original.

Does anyone know the origin of the bottles shown in the second photo?  They are stored nicely in a cabinet near the navigation area with a custom wood frame to hold them in the cabinet.  Even though they may not be original equipment I am sure they will come in handy.

Any information would be helpful and very appreciated.

Bob

Hi Bob,

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

I can't answer your first question, but I am rather shure that the "Delft-Blue" bottles are original! I've never seen them but heard about it. There were some boats for export fitted out with them.

About the woods in your cockpit there might be other owners that can help you with pictures.

Regards,

Eric.

Eric,
Thank you very much for the response.  That is exciting that the bottles may be original equipment.  I am looking forward to perhaps sampling their contents while anchored in the Chesapeake this year.

Where do you sail Paperino?  We will have our Contest 31, Bahia II, in Middle River, Maryland just north of Baltimore on the west side of the Chesapeake Bay.

Hi Bob,

Normally (in the weekends) we sail in our area (IJsselmeer or Waddensea). In Holidays we sail the Nothsea up to the Atlantic and the Eastsea. (Europe)
Unfortunatally we have not enough time to go away for a longer period. In the future we will maybe get that opportunity.

Regards,

Eric.
