Contest 29
« on: 03 November, 2010, 10:07:56 »
I have contest 29 of 1975 Brochure on the site of the Contest says that the maximum beam is m. 2,50, but my Contest has beam m. 2,70, the keel is short that is does not arrive until the rudder, the trap is repaired by the wood and they do not give the glass-reinforced plastic like on MK2, the windows are 2 large and three small.
Which model of Contest I have? Mk1 or Mk2 or that other?
Thanks

Hi,

welcome to this forum!
Seeing the picture of the boat under the waterline I think you own a Contest 30 mk 1.
The 30 mk1 is also wider than the 29 (2.75 instead of 2.50).

Have you measured the length of the boat? That should be 9m05 instead of 8m70.
The 29 mk 2 is from a different line and looks quite different.

On the site of CYOC or Contest Yachts you can find info about the 30 mk1.

This is a Contest 30 mk1 and not a 29. It looks like there's a hatch on the reardeck and as far as I know the C29 doesn't have that. If you can provide a picture of the inside we can tell for sure, the C29 has two straigth berths, de C30 has a L-shaped on the port side.

If you have a hullnumber I can try to find out the exact year of build if you are interested.
