Conyplex Contest 27 1969-1975
« on: 27 July, 2013, 02:16:54 »
Hello Contest Owners. I am the proud owner of a 1969 Contest 27  which I have named 'The Cochrane' (can't find its name). This boat is a restoration project, thou it does float extremely well. This boat has its share of problems and as a new owner of a sail boat, I'm not very knowledgeable about this craft.  The mast of this craft is missing completely. I have the specs for the sails at (I:9.75m, J:3.44m, P:8.50m, E:2.45m). I'm told from this I can find the height of the mast with the appropriate displacement of the vessel (5280LBS). I'm not sure of the math equation I need to complete this problem.

I'm having real trouble finding information on this craft. I believe the hull number is S178SP. I got this number off the metal banding on the Starboard side top deck (exactly where it is said to be). The Metal looks really new, something tells me it was replaced. Does anybody know another location for the Hull Number?

I have opened this post for any owner with Contest 27 related issues. Feel free to post. Any language will do.

I = lenght of mast, E = lenght of boom, J = distance between bow and mast end P = length of the luff of the mainsail. Not too much math I would say  :)

Ah HA. I've got you now. I new I was missing somethings (as it stares me in the face for days). That would be an I:31' (foot) Red Cedar Mast on a 1969 MK1.  The Boom would be E:8', and the distance or position on the ship is defined by J:11.5'.

Thank you so much. She needs a lot work. Currently I'm gathering as much info on this vessel as possible. It seems to be very difficult to find. I welcome all information.
